This week we focused on the first part of our Park Hill Elementary ROAR which is respect. We learned about respecting ourselves, respecting others, respecting our classroom, respecting our school, and respecting our community. Our class was very good at taking turns, working together, and keeping our classroom organized and ready to learn. Kindergarteners collaborated together to create a poster of how they will respect at Park Hill.
We also worked on reading stories by using the illustrations. We did an outstanding job at looking at the details and using our background knowledge to narrate the stories we were reading. We will continue to work on using the illustrations as well as other strategies to use during reading as the year progresses.
In math, we explored math manipulatives and practiced calendar routines. We are learning about numbers and different ways that we can create them. Kindergarteners enjoyed counting and discussing how we can apply counting to our real world.
This week we will begin building our stamina as we begin to learn how to do independent work stations. We will also learn the second part of ROAR which is ongoing learning. Based on our previous week, I know it will not take long before these kindergarteners can work independently. Way to go kindergartners! It is going to be an incredible year of learning and growth! I can't wait to see what they will do!
