We continue to work on number sense. We discussed the different ways to make numbers and transferred this ability into games during math stations. Students are busy recognizing numbers, discovering place value, and figuring out how to make a ten. We use our math skills throughout the day as we practice counting students in attendance, figure out our lunch count, use our numbers on the lunch scanner, and figure out how to equally distribute snacks. This week, we will begin exploring geometric shapes and discovering how they encompass the world around us.
Our classroom environment continues to become more independent as we learn the norms of kindergarten and how to collaborate with all the unique individuals in our room. It is a true joy to see these students embracing their uniqueness and respecting their differences. I love seeing what these students can do and cannot wait to see what else we will do!
